Aegirine was named after Ægir, the Norse god of the sea.
This stone can be found all around the world including Norway, Russia, Greenland, Canada, Kenya and Scotland.
It was first discovered in Norway in 1835.
Its commonly found on shades of black or brown with rare variants being dark green.
This stone is sometimes called Acmite derived from the Greek word ἀκμή, which translates to “point or edge”.
This different name is in reference to the crystals structure.
